Accel ProgramProgram TypeNon-Need Based Grant PurposeTo make available to Georgia high school students the opportunity to earn college degree-level credit hours as they simultaneously meet their high school graduation requirements by providing financial assistance toward their cost of attendance at eligible public or private colleges/universities and technical colleges in Georgia. Eligibility
ValueRecipients attending public colleges/universities and technical colleges receive an award that covers tuition, approved fees, and a book allowance up to $100 per quarter or $150 per semester, if enrolled at least half-time (six or more hours). If recipient is enrolled less than half-time (one to five hours), then the award that covers tuition, fees, and book allowance will be $50 per quarter or $75 per semester. Full-time (12 hours) recipients attending private colleges or universities receive an award up to $1,000 per quarter or $1,500 per semester. If recipient is taking less the full-time (12 hours), the award will be prorated based on the number of hours enrolled. Other InformationAll hours paid for by the Accel Program will be included in the combined paid-hours limit of 127 semester/190 quarter hours, which includes payments from the HOPE Scholarship, HOPE Grant, and Accel programs. There is an exception for students enrolled in specific undergraduate programs that are designed to be more than 190 quarter hours or 127 semester hours in length. Such students are eligible for a total of 225 quarter hours or 150 semester hours, or the number of hours required by the program of study, whichever is less.
